16th International Summer School of The Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR)

Du lun. 22 au sam. 27 août 2011

22nd-27th August 2011, The Oitavos Hotel, Lisbon, Portugal
£5395 (UK VAT exempt)

CEDR's International Summer School offers an exceptional combination of venue and content, involving five days of training, plus extra coaching, spread over six days to allow delegates some time to enjoy the stunning location and to reflect on the content and experiential learning of an intense course. The location provides an excellent environment for networking with other delegates and making the most of having experienced mediator-trainers at your disposal, at trainer to delegate ratio of 1:3. Getting away from the office also encourages delegates to turn their full concentration to a course which demands 150% attention.

Mediation is now established in the UK as a successful and cost-effective way to resolve commercial disputes. Although the development of mediation internationally has varied, the level of interest and use is universally increasing. It is climbing political and economic agendas with both the European Commission and United Nations regarding effective dispute resolution as an increasingly important element in international trade. Experience in a number of countries has shown that a supply of highly skilled mediators is imperative if the mediation market is to develop and operate successfully.

CEDR's International Summer School provides a unique opportunity to explore the potential for mediating commercial disputes, and those achieving CEDR Mediator Accreditation will be ideally placed to play a key role in the development of this emerging field.

CEDR training has a wide international appeal and with just 30 places available, demand is likely to be high. Previous summer schools have attracted a high calibre of participants from across the business and professional spectrum.

The programme relies heavily on interactive teaching methodology. This demands an extremely high level of competence in spoken English and English language comprehension from delegates, including the ability to understand regional accents. As the accreditation assessments are practical spoken assessments, delegates should be aware that insufficient English language capabilities can affect their chances of accreditation.

No prior knowledge of mediation is required nor a substantive knowledge of law. Half of the places on the Summer School are reserved for participants from outside the UK.

£5395.00 (UK VAT exempt) for all participants. Cost includes 6 nights accomodation from Monday - Friday, as well as meals and drinks during the course. It does not include room service, excursions, or any other additional hotel costs, which will need to be settled on departure.
